Encyclopedia Organisations High nobility Kingdom

Kingdom

A kingdom or realm is a community or territory over which a sovereign rules. It is also a form of government in which a group, usually a family called the dynasty, embodies the country's national identity and one of its members, the king or queen, exercises a role of sovereignty. Typically a king personally inherits the lawful right to exercise the state's sovereign rights (often referred to as the throne or the crown) and must be approved by the peers of the realm.
